Eucalyptus oil is the generic name for the distilled oil of the
Eucalyptus leaf. Eucalyptus oil has a history of application
broad, like a pharmaceutical product, antiseptic, repellent,
flavoring, perfume and industrial uses.
The leaves of certain species of eucalyptus are distilled at
steam to extract eucalyptus oil.
1.Drug and antiseptic
Cineole oil is used as a component in
pharmaceutical preparations to relieve flu symptoms
and colds, in products like cough drops,
lozenges, ointments and inhalants. Eucalyptus oil has
antibacterial effects on pathogenic bacteria in the tract
respiratory. The vapor of eucalyptus oil inhaled is a
decongestant and treatment for bronchitis. The cineole
controls hypersecretion and asthma of respiratory tract mucus
via inhibition of anti-inflammatory cytokines. Sugar oil also stimulates the immune system response through effects on the phagocytic capacity of human monocyte-derived macrophages.
Eucalyptus oil also has anti-inflammatory qualities and
painkillers.
Eucalyptus oil is also used in hygiene products
personal care for antimicrobial properties
dental products and soaps. It can also be applied to wounds
to prevent infection.
2.Repellent and biopesticide
Eucalyptus oil made from Cineole is used as an insect repellent
and biopesticide. In the United States, eucalyptus oil was first
registered in 1948 as an insecticide and acaricide.
Aroma
Eucalyptus oil is used in flavoring. Eucalyptus oil
Cineole base is used as a flavoring agent at low levels
(0.002%) in various products, including baked goods,
confectionery, meat products and metals. Oil
eucalyptus has antimicrobial activity against a wide range
foodborne human pathogens and
food spoilage microorganisms. Mint gum
non-cinelated peppercorn, strawberry gum and andlemon iron clay
are also used as a flavoring.
Scent
Eucalyptus oil is also used as a fragrance component
to impart a fresh, clean aroma in soaps, detergents,
lotions and perfumes.
Industrial
Research shows that eucalyptus oil made from cineole
(5% mixture) prevents the separation problem with ethanol and
fuel mixtures. Eucalyptus oil also has a clue
respectable octane and can be used as a separate fuel
whole. However, production costs are currently too
high for oil to be economically viable as a fuel.
