Faithful to the same recipe since 1591, each Anis de Flavigny secretly encloses an anise seed. Thin layers of delicately flavored sugar syrup patiently cover it for 15 days in large copper basins.
Each Flavigny Anise grows around a green anise seed. The plant, Pimpinella anisum, is different from fennel (the vegetable) or star anise (the fruit of an exotic tree): it is an umbellifer, and its small, ovoid fruits, ridged lengthwise, have a warm, pungent flavor and a remarkably aromatic odor. Anise seeds come from Spain... ...sugar...

In 1800, Anise from the Abbey of Flavigny already existed in a generous range of flavors.

Today, Anis de Flavigny is available in different natural flavors: anise of course, but also blackcurrant, lemon, orange blossom, ginger, mandarin, mint, liquorice, rose, violet...

Our natural flavors are extracted from plants by steam or alcohol distillation.
