Perfect for a slow-cooked meat ragù, a mushroom and cream sauce, a robust tomato sauce, or a perfectly golden pasta gratin: the tripoline ribbon was designed for one thing—to hold the sauce on both sides, down to the very last bite.
A tripolina is recognized by its wide ribbon, smooth on one side, ruffled on the other, and by that curly edge that holds more sauce than the flat side. One bite, two textures, and one true pleasure.

From the first bite, something happens in your mind even before you've finished chewing. The brain recognizes this distinct texture, this ribbon that offers just the right amount of resistance, and it doesn't try to analyze it: it feels. A sense of calm first, like walking into a kitchen where someone was waiting for you. Then a quiet joy, the kind felt at a large table in Italy where no one checks the clock and the ruffled edge of the ribbon holds a little treasure of sauce. And deep down, that sweet, nostalgic longing for a Sunday you feel you’ve lived before, even if you never have. The flavor lingers on the palate, and the emotion lingers even longer.

According to popular tradition, this ruffled-edge ribbon was imagined in Naples in honor of King Victor Emmanuel II. A pasta designed for grand occasions, it has retained a beautiful allure and a strong character from its origins. Even today, it is found in meat ragùs and gratinated dishes across Southern Italy.

Pasta Alica has been carrying on this same expertise since the 1920s in Laurenzana, in the province of Potenza. It all began with Grandmother Anna, assisted by two of her thirteen sons, Rocco and Francesco, who opened a small grocery store for local farmers. In 1928, this shop became the Michele Crisci wholesale house, one of the most significant in Southern Italy, and that same family passion still guides Pasta Alica today.

Everything begins with the finest Italian durum wheat, grown in the fertile lands of Basilicata and the Tavoliere delle Puglie. The grains are slowly ground into a fine semolina, then worked with pure Lucanian water at a temperature never exceeding 25°C to preserve the wheat's natural proteins. The pasta is bronze-extruded, giving each ribbon a slightly rough surface made to hold onto sauce. It then dries slowly for nearly two days, between 36°C and 40°C, to maintain its amber color and a perfectly al dente texture.

You don’t buy tripoline for an ordinary meal. You buy them for that moment when the ribbon unfolds on the plate, when the sauce clings to its curly edge, when every bite tastes like a Sunday in Italy, and when no one wants it to end.

And somewhere in Canada, on a weeknight moving too fast, someone drains these tripoline and closes their eyes for a second. For the duration of one plate, they are somewhere else—in Basilicata, where this tradition has never changed.

WHY WE USE THIS SHIPPING SYSTEM ONCE A WEEK

The reason is simple: that's why we use this shipping system once a week, where products are shipped on Sundays.

If we were to keep all products in large quantities, we would need a very, very, very large warehouse, like a large distribution center. The cost of that would significantly increase our prices.

Instead, we keep limited stock and receive weekly deliveries.

However, not all of our 100+ suppliers deliver at the same time, and not all of them have an accurate inventory system — and that's another story lol.

For this reason, in order to build your package, we have to wait for products from all suppliers. If we already have all the items, your package may be sent faster. It also depends on the volume of orders.

We hope you understand 🙏

WHEN WILL MY ORDER BE SHIPPED?

All orders are dispatched once a week, on Sundays. All services, including express service, follow this same shipping schedule.

You place an order here (Week 1) – for example: whether it's Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

👉 This is considered our order week (Week 1).

👉 Your order will be prepared from the following Monday until Saturday, then dispatched on the following Sunday (the next Sunday, not the one in the week you ordered).

👉 If you order on Sunday or later in the new week, your package will then be dispatched the Sunday after that, approximately 14 days later.

Product FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN WILL MY ORDER BE SHIPPED?

Orders are processed weekly.

If you place your order before Sunday, it will be processed and shipped on the following Sunday (not the immediate Sunday).

If you order after Sunday, it will be processed and shipped on the following Sunday (i.e., the second Sunday after your order).

WHERE ARE THESE PRODUCTS LOCATED?

All our products are already in Canada, in our warehouse, ready to be shipped. You will not have any customs fees or hidden charges upon delivery.

WHY DO YOU SHIP ONCE A WEEK?

Because we work with several importers and suppliers.

Some products are in limited quantity in our warehouse and we must wait for the missing items to be received.

Since our suppliers do not all deliver on the same day, we consolidate orders and ship once a week to ensure your order is complete.

WHY IS AN ITEM MISSING FROM MY ORDER?

Some of our suppliers do not have a real-time inventory system and do not always notify us when a product is out of stock.

In addition, some received items may have an expiration date that is too soon. We check each product upon receipt and remove those that do not meet our standards.

If an item is missing, it is because we have chosen not to include it in order to guarantee you the best possible quality.

WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A RETURN POLICY?

As these are food products, we cannot accept returns for safety and hygiene reasons.

Once a product has been shipped, we cannot guarantee the storage or handling conditions.

Why has the price of this product increased since my last order?

Our products are purchased in euros, so the exchange rate directly influences our prices.

In addition, transportation and import costs can vary, which can also impact the final price.
